CANDLEMASS mastermind Leif Edling founded AVATARIUM nearly 10 years ago. Edling eventually had to depart the group due to health issues, but left AVATARIUM in the capable hands of vocalist Jennie-Anne Smith, guitarist Marcus Jidell, drummer Andreas Habe Johansson, drummer Mats Rydström, and keyboardist Daniel Karlsson.
Death, Where Is Your Sting is the 5th studio album by the genre bending Swedish Doom Metal mainstays, and their first for German label AFM Records. I had the chance to catch up with vocalist Jennie-Ann Smith shortly after the album’s release.
Highlights include:
-Discussion of Death, Where Is Your Sting
-Stories behind the singles
-Smith being influenced by Barbara Streisand
-Deluxe Edition of the album
-Signing with AFM Records
-Does founding member Leif Edling still contribute?
-Playing 2022 Summer Breeze Open Air Festival
-10th Anniversary of AVATARIUM
-Memories of recording their self-titled debut
-And much, much more
