13 studio albums over the course of 35 years is no small feat, especially for a band no one seems to know about and hasn’t made any money. Jerry Gaskill’s words, not mine. Three Sides of One is the latest album by Gaskill, Ty Tabor, and Dug Pinnick, collectively known as KING’S X.
Maybe those negative statements about the band are a bit farsighted or maybe just bluntly honest. Critics have always fawned over the band and their music, and I’m sure you know, like I know, quite a few rock fans that absolutely love KING’S X.
Either way, through all the hardships, the band plays on. I had the chance to catch up with drummer Jerry Gaskill shortly after the release of Three Sides of One.
Highlights include:
-Discussion of new album Three Sides of One
-Recording traditionally in studio
-Stories behind the songs he wrote on the album
-The impact of surviving two heart attacks
-Touring plans in wake of Ty Tabor’s health issues
-Memories of recording 1988’s Out of The Silent Planet
-Did the music of KING’S X make any money?
-Future solo material
-Session work with BOB BURGER
-Playing in BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN’s backing band
-And much, much more
