It’s a pretty bold statement to make naming your band ICONIC, but when you consider the members involved, it starts to make sense why they did. ICONIC is the latest supergroup born from the mind of Frontiers Music President, Serafino Perugino. Look, even I roll my eyes sometimes when I read that in a press release, and I’ve seen it a lot lately. I do have to give respect to Frontiers Music for giving these supergroups a try, but sometimes they fail to hit the mark and other times they are only “super” in certain territories.
However, ICONIC is the real deal. Their debut album Second Skin clearly defines what it means to be a supergroup, and every song is a quality Hard Rock composition delivered by world class musicians. ICONIC features Michael Sweet (STRYPER), Joel Hoekstra (WHITESNAKE), Tommy Aldrich (WHITESNAKE), Marco Mendoza (ex-The Dead Daisies), and Nathan James (INGLORIOUS). I had the chance to speak with co-vocalist Nathan James a few days before the album dropped.
