Houston’s ROZY has eleased their debut single, “Come As You Are”, a cover of the NIRVANA classic track. The single and video is the band’s first since they signed with iconic hard rock label Megaforce Records earlier this summer. The band’s take on the classic song mines something more ferocious and rhythmically varied out of one of the slinkier cuts on NIRVANA’s breakthrough album Nevermind, and gives the band a chance to engage with their deep interest and reverence for their forebears while highlighting the heavier guitars and unique rhythmic and vocal interplay that’s always been at the heart of ROZY’s sound. Both the rhythms and tight vocal harmonies are a testament to the long-formed artistic connection between the band’s founding members, sisters Zoe and Molly Flores (on vocals/guitar, and drums respectively) who at ages 20 and 21 have now been making music together for ten years. In ROZY, they up the ante with the addition of Brandon Martinez on guitar, whose fierce guitar work keeps the energy of the song, and bassist Charlie Bubenik who here gets a chance to transpose the song’s iconic guitar solo into a deep, magnetic low end.

“Growing up, we were always influenced by the 80’s rock bands our parents listened to,” Zoe remembers. “But as I got older and started coming into my own, I discovered NIRVANA and fell in love with them instantly. For years I even had the intro for "Heart Shaped Box" as my alarm clock for school. What’s a better way to say ‘thank you for influencing me’ than to pay tribute and cover their song? What you’re hearing is the final product and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome.”

ROZY has become a rising name in the Texas music scene, sharing stages with rock icons like BUCKCHERRY, STRYPER and PUDDLE OF MUDD and band’s deal with Megaforce puts ROZY on a roster that’s housed some of the biggest names in that canon over the last 40 years, including METALLICA, KING'S X, ANTHRAX, MINISTRY, BAD BRAINS, OVERKILL, and ALIEN ANT FARM, among others. Zoe and Molly grew up hugely interested and well educated in the history of hard rock. Now rounding out the lineup, Brandon and Charlie elaborate and extend the sisters’ heavier impulses into a sound full of grit and glamor, as much classic as it is something new.
