Vince Neil Live in Las Vegas By Tokemaster General, Contributor Tuesday, June 1, 2004 @ 10:24 AM
My fiancé and I headed out Friday morning to Las Vegas to see Vince Neil at the Boulder Station Hotel and Casino. We arrived at the hotel around 2:30pm, checked in, and went down stairs to gamble until it was time to head to the show.
At around 8:15pm, the lights went down and Vince and company walked on stage and started with “In The Beginning.” Now, I was a little concerned with what kind of a performance Vince was going to give considering that the last time I saw him back in October at the Galaxy Theatre he was so loaded he couldn’t remember the lyrics to half the songs.
Well this time he did not disappoint me. He came out with lots of energy and sounded great -- opening with “Live Wire” and immediately going right into “Shout At The Devil.” Before the show, I saw the set list but the band didn’t stick to it at all. They seemed to just do what they felt like doing and Vince sang whatever they started to play, which was pretty cool. One thing though, is he doesn’t do any of his solo songs, which I don’t understand, since his solo records kick ass.
As the show went on, you could feel the energy in the room. The Railhead holds about 500 people and I do believe it was a full house. Vince would run back and forth on the stage, high-fiving everyone and having a good time. This time he wasn’t drunk but he was drinking during the show but not enough to be drunk yet. As they started “Home Sweet Home,” Vince stopped everything because the piano was too loud and he couldn’t hear anything. But he was cool about it, saying this shit happens with a grin as they started the song over. All in all, it was a great time, well worth the four-hour drive to Vegas.
The highlight of the night was when they did “Wild Side”. Jason Hook on guitar was awesome. Vince leaves the stage so his band can jam and Jason Hook takes over. The band extended the song so he can just solo out -- What a guitar player!!!
After the encores, which were “Teaser” and “Kickstart My Heart,” they said goodnight, and as Vince was leaving, he was cool enough to sign my CD cover.
After the show, the rest of the band came out, signed autographs and took pictures with us. Cool guys and a good show.
