Metallica Live in Tucson By Tokemaster General, Contributor Sunday, March 14, 2004 @ 11:55 AM
Well, it had been 12 long years since Metallica have been to Tucson, AZ, and let me tell you… it was worth the wait!!!
The TCC Arena was packed and ready to rock. Godsmack came out first and warmed up the crowd BIG TIME -- they were amazing live, complete with a KILLER drum duel between singer Sully and their drummer -- very wicked and entertaining...
Around 9:00 the beginnings of “Ecstasy of Gold” started playing on the video screens, then the lights went out and the intro to “Blackened” could be heard getting louder and louder until BOOM, Metallica is in the house FULL ON…
The stage was in the center, which was absolutely AWESOME -- not a bad seat in the house with this set up... They blasted through a 2 hours and 15 minute blistering set of old and new, mostly old though, which was great, with a couple obscurities in there as well.
The pyro and bombs on “One” was a sight to see and hear, it was loud as hell. They did “Enter Sandman,” said goodnight and thank you very much, then asked if we wanted one more, and we said, “YES,” and they said, “How ‘bout two more?” and we said, “HELL YES!!”
“Blitzkrieg” and “Motorbreath” ended the set with a bang. This show on a scale of 1-10 was an 11… I recommend that if 'Tallica is coming by your town, you better have tickets already, cause I think it's gonna sell out everywhere. And if that wasn't enough, they recorded the shows and offer them for download to keep forever and ever… Very cool...
