LA Guns Live in Bassano, Italy By Tokemaster General, Contributor Wednesday, February 11, 2004 @ 11:36 AM
To open the show at 10.30 was the Swedish act named Dollhouse, that reminds me the Black Crows/London Quireboys sounds, and apart from the singer’s good performance, I wasn't really impressed from these guys.
At 11.30, the crowd started moving to fill the front row as L.A. Guns was taking their place on stage. As soon as they start playing the opener, "Over The Edge," it was clear that this band is in very good shape and the new guitar player Stacey Blades (ex-Roxx Gang) perfectly fit in the band. Phil Lewis’ voice was much powerful than last year’s show, and the sound quality was very good.
The band played all their hits including “Sex Action,” “One More Reason,” “Long Time Dead”,” “Revolution” (from their awesome Waking The Dead CD), “Beautiful” and an amazing “Moby Dick” version with a tremendous Steve Riley drum solo. In fact, I was really impressed by the great performance of this drummer.
The show went on with the intense atmosphere of “Crystal Eyes,” with Phil Lewis’ awesome voice and an amazing Stacey guitar solo. The powerful “Never Enough” and the big hit “Kiss Your Love Goodbye” closed the set.
Then the encores “Ballad of Jayne” and “Rip and Tear” ended this great Friday night of rock 'n roll. After this great show, I'm really looking forward to see this guys back in Italy next year!
