After two years, the wait is finally over. Fuel returned to Boston to perform a sold out show at Avalon. Fuel is currently hitting the road in support of their new album Natural Selection.
The band hit the stage at 8 p.m. and played over an hour of the most intense, in your face rock and roll that they are known for. Dressed in jeans, an Alice Cooper t-shirt and sporting a new spiked blond and black hairdo, lead singer Bret Scallions has to be one of the most energetic and intense singers in the music biz today.
The band opened the show with "Last Time" from their last album Something Like Human. They also played alot of new songs including "Million Miles Away,” a powerful love-gone-bad ballad, and "Falls On Me,” their latest single. Both songs had intense lyrics that were woven around guitarist Carl Bell's haunting acoustic guitar melodies.
Bret Scallions says the band has been “returning to Boston to play for seven years now.” From the response of the audience, Boston is a big Fuelie town. Everyone sang along to the former hit single "Shimmer."
The band also played "Empty Spaces" and "Something Like Human" from their last album. They ended the show with "Hemmorage" and returned to the stage with 2 encores including "Bittersweet" and "Quarter," a heavy new song from their new album.
