Here is an update from Bruce Kulick on the incident:
"I had a great time at the Key Club seeing Vince Neil perform.
"Highlights of the night included seeing my old drummer from Union--Brent Fitz-- play with Vince. It was amazing to see Motley Crue's founder and bassist Nikki Sixx getting up to jam with Vince and his band.
"After thanking the band for the show, I left the club at 1:20 a.m. I was walking down the street (Sunset Blvd) just outside of the KEY CLUB to get my car with my friend when shots rang out.
"I felt my right leg hit and my left temple glazed from at least two shots. I shouted 'Get down!' but never saw the shooter and did not realize the gunshots were fired from the gunman a half block up the street near the Rainbow.
"My friends called 911 and it was then I realized that a bullet went into my thigh just above the right knee.
"The police and the paramedics were called amongst the confusion, and I was taken quickly to Cedars Sinai. Upon a thorough examination at the hospital it was realized that the bullet went through my thigh, missing the major artery and bone. I was very lucky in this matter, although I am in pain and uncertain how long recovery will take.
"My hearing is fine, the temple wound was bleeding for a while, and the doctors called it a very fortunate "abrasion." To think what could have happened from that bullet if my head was not in the position it was that night is a horrific thought.
"It was certainly a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, walking in a public street having no knowledge of any altercation in the vicinity. Of all the hundreds of people exposed to the gunfire, it is mindblowing to think of shots being fired in a crowd of innocent people.
"I've received many messages and phone calls wishing me well and really appreciate all the support from my family, friends, and fans from around the world."

Original report (10/16/03):
An argument broke out at the Rainbow last night on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood injuring two.
After the argument, a 21-year-old man left to get his gun. The dude returned and fired several shots in to the patio area of the restaurant. A 29-year-old employee was struck in the foot.
Next door, Bruce Kulick, former guitarist of Kiss now currently with Grand Funk Railroad, was standing near the Key Club, where Vince Neil had performed a bit earlier. Authorities say Bruce was hit in the leg by one bullet and grazed by another in his temple.
Meanwhile the shooter was tackled by witnesses and held for sheriff's deputies.
According to his publicist, Bruce is at home and recovering. “I’m very grateful for the immediate response of both the crowd and the doctors, and --obviously-- the EMS crews,” says Bruce Kulick. “I’m fine and very thankful to be alive, and I’m back on the road with Grand Funk.”
This past weekend Bruce and his band Grand Funk played two shows in California. On November 8th they’ll be performing at a benefit for Safe Harbor Animal Rescue and Hospital-- a no kill facility in Grand Funk drummer Don Brewer’s hometown of Jupiter.
Bruce has plenty of time to recuperate, as the band is taking time off for the holidays. And they’ll be back on the road to do 40 or 50 shows in the new year.
