It's been a few years since Leppard played N.F.L. (no fun city) Vancouver, as we call it.
It was such a mix of people -- from little kids, to old grizzled veterans, looked like Dead Heads.
I was drinkin’ ciders, so I missed the opening guy, Ricky Warwick, so no loss.
As the lights went down, Leppard tore into "Let it Go," and the crowd was nuts. The energy the boys had was amazing. Joe Elliot may have a few extra pounds, but Jesus, he gave 110%.
It was a great mix of songs, from "Too Late For Love," "Slang" and "Now." It was the concert bow set-up, so about 6000 peeps… man, I was row 7 on the floor. Every time I turned around, everyone, I mean everyone, were on their feet.
Say what you want about Leppard, they still put on a great show -- twin guitar attack and Rick Allen holding things down. Joe went on to say this is the last stop on the Canadian tour, and that they won't be back for a while. He also said, "We won't forget you, if you don't forget us!"
All in all, a great rock show for a city that plays no rock on any radio, even the station that presented them, plays them at like 4 am... My ears are still ringing!
"Vancouver... Do you wanna get rocked?!"
