Minnesota has always been a breeding ground for just about anything that can play a note, while we love to be the home of synchronized noise, we also support anybody that can play music and drink lots of beer. Once again the bastions of ‘80s music rolled into town to support their latest release, yes, LA Guns blasted into town like a red-headed whore in deer camp.
Starting with "Over the Edge," they cruised through their set like an
American Platoon in Iraq. The crowd was overly large as expected. This band gets more support from the Midwest every single time they’re here, and not just from the girls… probably why they've been here at least eight-plus time in the last three years.
The set was a definite "best-of" -- you name it, they played it. Phillip Lewis, as always, was incredible. The energy of the crowd was apparent as the band ripped through “Electric Gypsy,” “One More Reason,” “Kiss My Love Goodbye,” etc. Steve Riley wailed on drums with Adam Hamilton on bass. Some new guy on guitars was having more fun than this writer with a fifth of Jaeger and a couple of twins.
The encore only consisted of one song, "Rip & Tear," but they could have played all night, at least until 2 am (our new bar time). All-in-all it was a great show with
a solid band. These guys might take over the banner of the hardest working
band in show biz, at least in Minnesota...
