KISS & Aerosmith Live at Jones Beach By Tokemaster General, Contributor Saturday, August 23, 2003 @ 11:57 PM
First thing I took notice to was how great they still look after 30 years. Gene Simmons shed a lot of weight for this tour and looks better then he ever did and Paul Stanley is in killer shape. I must admit I was pissed that Ace was not doing this tour, but you know what -- Tommy Thayer was much better and played those songs note for note! Peter Criss was solid and was much better this time around. I know he had problems with his arms last two tours, but he was great on this night. Kiss were on high energy and the Kiss Army were going nuts. They had everybody on their feet singing and clapping. Aerosmith were next, and it was clear from the start that they would not be able to follow Kiss. They opened with “Mama Kin” into “Toys In The Attic.” They played well and brought out some old gems like “Last Child” and “Nobody's Fault,” but they looked tired and bored. Steven seemed annoyed at the poor crowd reaction and just was not into it. I felt bad for them but tonight was proof you can't follow Kiss when Kiss are as good as they were this night. Still Aerosmith played well and Perry still rules on stage and sounds killer. A great night for Kiss, but a let down for Aerosmith. Kiss Set List
