As reported by Reuters/Billboard:
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Elektra/Rhino has set a Sept. 23 release date for "The Best of Pantera: Far Beyond the Great Southern Cowboys' Vulgar Hits!," a career overview of the renowned Texan metal group.
The 16-track single-disc "Vulgar Hits!" will be packaged with a bonus DVD boasting 12 videos, including two live performances.
The songs are largely culled from the band's six major-label releases, but also included are non-album cuts "Cat Scratch Fever" (a cover of the Ted Nugent song that originally appeared on the Polygram soundtrack to "Detroit Rock City") and the Black Sabbath cover "Hole in the Sky," previously available only on import.
Other cuts on the disc include "Cowboys From Hell," "Walk," "Revolution Is My Name," "Cemetary Gates," "Mouth for War," "Becoming" and the band's more well-known Black Sabbath interpretation, "Planet Caravan."
The DVD includes videos for "Psycho Holiday," "Drag the Waters" and "5 Minutes Alone" alongside live performances of "Domination" and "Primal Concrete Sledge."
Pantera -- guitarist Dimebag Darrell, bassist Rex Brown, drummer Vinnie Paul and singer Philip Anselmo -- has long been considered one of the most original metal groups of the '90s. The band's latest album, "Reinventing the Steel," debuted in April 2000 at No. 4 on The Billboard 200.
