Soilwork Vs. In Flames
Sonically defining Swedish metal throughout the '90s, In Flames put themselves on the map by playing catchy, guitar-driven heavy metal. After conquering the underground, the band took a stand against the mainstream. The release of 2002's best-selling Reroute to Remain launched the band into the limelight and made everyone stand up and take note.
Three whirlwind North American tours and a jaunt across Europe has kept In Flames a household name. Slayer, Soulfly, Mudvayne, Depswa and Grade 8 fans all got to taste the flame. Even underground fans got to witness the fury during a quick three-week trek from coast to coast with Dark Tranquillity and Killswitch Engage. Now In Flames returns to hold council with converts new and old in a headline tour across the states and Canada. Just in time for the tour In Flames will be releasing the Trigger EP, containing one new song, re-mixed songs, a cover song and videos.
Country mates Soilwork offer direct support in what could very well turn this tour into a Swedish showdown. Soilwork's latest disc, Figure Number Five, released May 6th to amazing reviews and record sales, is set to follow the amazing sales trend that In Flames latest disc forged. In response to Figure Number Five, Alternative Press claims "this might be the record to bring death metal to the masses." Soilwork have taken it to a new level with this disc, and they intend to prove their viability on the road battling In Flames nightly. Additional support will come from Roadrunner's Chimaira and Eulogy's Unearth.
Be sure to check out In Flames and Soilwork's "dueling" videos, sure to light the spark that ignites the bands across North America. Both videos will be coming to MTV2 and Fuse (Much Music) in the coming weeks. The Swedish Showdown begins on June 26th in Toronto.
