For Immediate Release:
Britain's Skindred Offers Diverse Babylon Through Bieler Bros. On April 22nd
Band Brings Unique Sound To America On Tours
With Slaves On Dope & Nonpoint
Brandishing the description 'Ragga Punk Metal', Britain's Skindred is poised to break through the American music scene with a unique & energetic new sound. Equal parts soulful dancehall, rambunctious rock, blistering aggression, and everything in between, Skindred offers a fresh perspective in a scene awash with formulaic monotony. Simply stated, the band's eclectic debut Babylon smashes the boundaries of genre, giving way to a free-spirited musical experience. Released on April 22nd, Babylon will change modern music forever.
Formed by vocalist Benji Webbe (of the defunct cult icons Dub War), Skindred's singular technique stems from the diverse influences of its members - guitarist Mikey Dee, bassist Dan Pugsley, and drummer Dirty Arya. Dan explains, "We’re all into reggae music and into punk, but we really see it the way The Clash did it, mixing different styles of music. What's different with us is that the rock is more hardcore, and the reggae is more dancehall. We're basically progressing with the times & blurring the lines through love of music. It's essentially just the way we play. As a band, we're really stoked to have an American release; we feel that the people might be able to capture what we're trying to do with the music. We just want to move things forward and take it to the next level." The American release of Babylon will contain 2 exclusive tracks not found on the European version. The album was produced by Howard Benson (P.O.D.) and mixed by Rick Will (Incubus). Radio stations already airing the single "Set It Off" include WZTA (Miami), WJRR (Orlando), and WPBZ (West Palm Beach).
Having spent recent years building a reputation as an infectious live act throughout Europe (sharing the stage with everyone from Fear Factory, Machine Head, Crazytown, Disturbed, P.O.D., to Opeth, Drowning Pool, System Of A Down, Tool and even Ozzy Osbourne), Skindred is ready to mesmerize American audiences with this swirling concoction of lethal addictiveness. Praise precedes them in ample supply:
"I have always been a big fan of Benji's and believe in his music, and the concept of Skindred. Their sound is challenging and uplifting; Skindred are definitely related to our tribe." ~ Max Cavalera (Soulfly)
"Skindred is a step UP! A band that stands alone...Dynamic, melodic and pulverizing vocals coming at ya from the Dreded warrior himself! " ~ Robert Trujillo (Metallica / Ozzy Osbourne / Suicidal Tendencies)
"We spent a few weeks in Europe with Skindred. They know how to rock a crowd live and definitely transmit that energy to their debut album." ~ Sonny (P.O.D.)
"This is some of the craziest s*** I have heard in a long time...our Saturday Night Extreme Show listeners are going to eat this up!!! " ~ Pat Lynch (WJRR in Orlando)
"If you're looking for a new tune that brings a different type of hard sound to the radio, Skindred is well worth the listen. It has that stand up & take notice effect. " ~ Troy Hanson (WZTA in Miami)
"Amazing artistry, killer hooks, and massive intensity for the new front of music...watch this band close. " ~ Chris Lee (Downset)
"In a day where so many bands sound and look alike, Skindred is a fresh piece of rock, reggae and metal all fused into one amazing CD, Babylon. BUY THIS CD NOW! " ~ Shaun Glass (Soil)
