As we reported over the summer, System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian formed his own record label called Serjical Strike Records. Over the last coupla months, Tankian has already signed three acts to his label including -- Bad Acid Trip, Big Elf And Kittens For Christian—and is currently shopping the label to various major labels to secure a joint venture deal.
Well, now Tankian has recorded a full-length collaboration with Armenian multi-instrumentalist Arto Tuncboyaciyan during the downtime between their recently wrapped Pledge of Allegiance tour with Slipknot and plans on releasing it through Serjical Strike next year. Tentatively titled Serart, the 15-song CD is described by the singer as “really crazy world, jazz and experimental…with some rock and hip-hop, beats, dance beats, electronic beats”. System bassist Shavo Odadjian DJs on two songs on the effort.
In addition, Tankian has also finished up an electronica collaboration album with Scottish vocalist Petra Jolly under the moniker Bad Girls, which he's hoping to release on the label next year. Serj describes it as "very Massive Attack-ish -- trip-hop with really, kinda poppy vocals."
