Y&T Live at Jaxx in Springfiel

The ad read, "All original members" of Y&T for 2 nights at Jaxx nightclub (I
guess all original Y&T and not Yesterday and Today, because Stef Burns was on
guitar, not Joey Alves). This is a mid-size place that holds about 4 to 5
hundred people, but on this night there were only about 150 people in
attendance (it was a two nighter, I'm sure Saturday was better attended).
It seemed that alot of the people came from far away (Penn., New York, Chicago,
San Francisco, even) to check out these legends that back in the day Van
Halen, Motley Crue and other huge bands opened up for. Needless to say
these guys still kick ass.
Dave Meniketti still has that beat up Les Paul that sounds awesome, as does his voice.
Phil Kennemore on bass and Leonard
Haze on drums still enjoyed playing their songs like it was watching a new
band on stage. They all actually still look great, too, which is surprising
since their 1st album came out in 1976.
They started with “Black Tiger” and
then went to “Lipstick and Leather,” “Hurricane,” “Dirty Girl,” “Hell or High
Water,” “Meanstreak,” “Winds of Change,” “Game Playing Woman,” “I Believe In You,”
“Summertime Girls,” “Forever” and “Rescue Me.”
These guys were one of the most
underrated rock/metal bands of the ‘70s and ‘80s and deserved more then and
deserve more now. Check these guys out before they finally throw in the
towel. Dave's wife Jill was selling t-shirts and said that they're just
enjoying themselves, tour for a week, take a month off, tour another week…
going sightseeing in Washington D.C. on this weekend. Afterwards, they all
sat for autographs and talked with the crowd, all of which stayed to get
something signed (great idea since they probably sold $1,000 of merchandise
from this). BTW - Dave Meniketti's new solo CD still holds true to the Y&T
sound and is a must buy.
