The surviving members of Control Denied will continue on with their highly anticipated sophomore album, When Machine and Man Collide, despite the recent death of founder Chuck Schuldiner. The band -- bassist Steve DiGiorgio, vocalist Tim Aymar, guitarist Shannon Hamm, and drummer Richard Christy -- are determined to complete the effort that they had started with Schuldiner before he lost his battle with pontine glioma, a rare brain tumor. Guitars and drums had already been tracked and bass and vocals will be the next endeavor before the mixing the album.
DiGiorgio recently commented that it is “sad beyond belief that [Chuck] never saw [the album] to its completion. We will try our best to finish it in his honor, but will never know if it lives up to his standards. That's the least we can do for someone who gave so much and cared so much about what he did and how it affected those who believed as well.” The record is expected to be released in late 2002 release through Hammerheart Records and will feature much axe-work from Schuldiner.
Schuldiner formed the band Death and was considered one of the founding fathers of the death metal genre. He died on December 13th at 4pm ET.
