Vince Neil Live At The Boulder

Vince Neil played the Railhead room in Boulder Station Casino last Saturday (7/27/02) to a full house. Not that it is difficult to sell out. The room only holds up to 500 people. I have seen Motley Crue about 10 times. I saw Vince solo after he released his first solo disc. I’d seen the setlists from the Rock Never Stops shows and was pumped for a great time. Being Las Vegas is his home I expected him to kick some butt. And did he ever!
He opened with “Kickstart My Heart.” Being only 5 rows from the stage, I joined in with the headbanging and had my fist pumping high in the air. The next song was “Knock “Em Dead Kid.” I hadn’t heard that song live in many years. For the third tune he went with “Look In
Her Eyes.” I still say that is his best solo recording. It was a pleasant surprise to hear it performed. The forth jam was “Piece Of Your Action.” What a way to start a show! Four classics, a small venue, and a few beers. Those four songs alone made the evening, but it was only getting started.
The other songs, in no particular order: “Girls, Girls,
Girls,” “Home Sweet Home,” “Live Wire,” “Wild Side,” “You’re
Invited (But Your Friend Can’t Come),” “Dr. Feelgood,” “Red
Hot,” “Smokin’ In The Boys Room,” “Looks That Kill,” and
“Same Ol’ Situation.”
Of course, I would have been game to hear another 20 tunes, but he can’t play them all!
After the show I was playing craps and laughing to myself as people kept making comments about the “noise” throughout the evening. Evidently, they turned up the overhead Muzak because Vince had the amps cranked. I won $100 that covered my expenses for the evening, and considered the night a success.
