With mastermind composer/lyricist Paul O'Neill at the helm, Trans-Siberian Orchestra embarks on it most ambitious and elaborate family holiday tour to date, bringing its soaring blend of rock riffs and, classical symphonics to more than 54 cities this holiday season.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra was established in 1996 by producer/writer/guitarist Paul O’Neill (producer for rock bands such as Aerosmith and Savatage) whose 1995 rock opera, Dead Winter Dead, contained the epic "Christmas Eve Sarajevo 12/24" and served the nucleus for TSO.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Christmas Eve & Other Stories has become the Number Five largest grossing Holiday event in America, right behind Radio City Christmas Show with the Rockettes; Nutcracker Ballet by Tchaikovsy; A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and Mannheim Steamroller; all whom have been around for many decades, if not centuries.
The show centers on Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s critically acclaimed Christmas Eve & Other Stories, with story and lyrics written by Paul O’Neill, and music by O’Neill and longtime creative partners Robert Kinkel and Jon Oliva. It chronicles the mission of Heaven’s youngest angel, sent to Earth by God, to bring back to Him "The one thing that represents everything good that has been done in the name of this day. His journey culminates in helping bring a runaway child home for Christmas."
Previous tours have been heralded by fans and critics alike and defined Trans-Siberian Orchestra as the next generation of rock opera, following in the vein of the now-classic Tommy and Jesus Christ Superstar. TSO has managed to capitalize on its fluid line up - built around the creative studio forces of O’Neill, Savatage's Jon Oliva and Robert Kinkel - adding as needed, additional charismatic musicians and singers.
