Quiet Riot Live In Las Vegas D

Yep, that's right. In typical Vegas fashion, It's all who you know. A local "DJ"named Lark Williams was having her birthday party at the Railhead inside Boulder Station Casino and Quiet Riot was playing it. It probably helped that Lark is dating Kevin DuBrow. Kevin Dubrow was an "on air personality" here in Vegas for a while and they both worked for the same station. Do ya think that's how they hooked up? At least the public was invited. If they bought a ticket.

Anyway, Quiet Riot came out on stage after listening to “Electric Eye” by Judas Priest. They opened up with Vicious Circle and the crowd livened up a little when “Slick Black Cadillac” started. Frankie Banali was playing very accurately, keeping time through a couple of mishaps. It seemed as though the audience was a tough one. The whole radio station that Lark was employed had the first two rows. Behind them were people that won tickets playing black jack or something. Pretty dead for front rowers. The fans were in the back of the room having a great time and letting loose.

Kevin DuBrow did his job well. He was pimping Quiet Riot's recent release Guilty Pleasures, and was constantly working the crowd. They played a few covers. “Purple Haze,” “You Shook Me” and “My Generation” to be exact. Well, not exact if you count the Slade covers. You know what I mean. Rudy Sarzo, was finger licking good, literally. When they played “Psycho City,” he licked his fingers 15 times. I'm serious. He would be playing, then lick his fingers, play a little more, then lick his fingers and so on. If you watch him in the old videos, you will see what I am talking about. Pretty distracting. He played well, just quit licking your fingers, please!

Carlos Cavazo was great. Solos, songs and covers. What else can you say about him? During the solo for “Cum Feel The Noize,” his guitar quit. He ran behind the stacks, switched guitars and came in right where the solo should have been, didn't miss a lick. Perfect. He had every bad air guitar player in the building jamming with him. The audience finally came to life when Quit Riot ended with “Metal Health.”

Great show even though you had to sit in the back and couldn't smoke. Can't smoke in a Vegas showroom? What's the world coming to? It was made up to the fans when Kevin announced that they would be out in front in 10 minutes to meet with the fans and sign autographs. Hey, even the guitarist for Faster Pussycat was in line getting an autograph.
