Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has yet to decide whether or not to continue the band in the wake of bass player Paul Gray's death. The masked singer insists the May tragedy is still something that haunts him and he needs more time to recover from his friend and bandmate's overdose before he can make a decision about the future of Slipknot. He says, "It's kind of a grey area right now. Everybody is still feeling it. It's too soon to tell. I'm very conflicted about whether or not I want to do anything with Slipknot, because, to me, Paul was such an integral part of the band. He was the whole reason that the band was the way it was. "Paul was the glue and the orchestrator behind some of the best music we ever wrote. He was the soul of the band. "Right now, it just doesn't make sense (to continue). Until it does, that's the way it stays for me." Drummer Joey Jordison recently insisted there would be more Slipknot music eventually, and he now reveals to ThePulseofRadio.com that he and bandmate Shawn Crahan have started to "map out the game plan". Despite Taylor's comments, he says, "There is another Slipknot record already kinda in the making. We're getting timelines set and, you know, it's gonna be a little bit but there's definitely another record. Paul would always want us to make another record. He wouldn't want the band to stop."

LOS ANGELES – Rock band Jane’s Addiction said Monday it has parted ways with its latest bass player, former Guns N’ Roses member Duff McKagan, five months after announcing his addition to the oft-vacated post. McKagan, 46, performed a few concerts with the band, and worked on new material for its first album in seven years, but musical differences cut short his tenure. “Hey we wanted to thank Duff for helping us write songs for our new record,” the band said via email. “We love the songs we worked on with him — and the gigs were a blast — but musically we were all headed in different directions. From here Duff is off to work on his own stuff so we wish him all the best.” Jane’s Addiction has been through five bass players since it formed in 1985, while the rest of the quartet’s lineup is unchanged. Original member Eric Avery has come and gone twice, most recently replaced by McKagan in March after an Australian tour. McKagan is best known as a founding member of Guns N’ Roses, contributing such songs as “Paradise City” and “It’s So Easy” to one of the biggest bands of the early 1990s. But as with some of the group’s other members, drugs and alcohol got in the way, and McKagan almost died after his pancreas ruptured in 1994. He sobered up and quit the band a few years later. After studying business at Seattle University, he joined forces with two other Guns alumni to form Velvet Revolver in 2002. The band released two albums and won a Grammy before crumbling in 2008. McKagan last year recorded and toured with his new band, Loaded. According to a Twitter message from Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, McKagan plans to issue a follow-up album and return to the road in the fall. A spokesman for McKagan was not immediately available. Jane’s Addiction emerged from the Los Angeles rock underground in the 1980s, distinguishing itself from other post-punk groups with Farrell’s sexually ambiguous stagecraft and the musicians’ deft ear for melodic tunes. They recorded just three albums and scored radio play with such songs as “Been Caught Stealing” and “Jane Says.”

Rockers Metallica are refusing to let New Zealand's recent earthquakes stop them from performing for fans there. Devotees feared three big quakes over the past five days, including a 7.1-magnitude one that hit the country's South Island, would prompt Metallica to postpone two sold-out shows set for Christchurch later this month. But the band insists the shows at the CBS Canterbury Arena - close to the epicentre of the earthquakes - will go ahead as planned on September 21 and 22. Engineers are currently assessing the 9,000-capacity venue for damage, but bosses insist it doesn't appear the arena has been damaged at all.

Nobody pushes Joe Perry around. Not even Steven Tyler. The Aerosmith frontman learned that the hard way when he hipchecked his guitarist onstage in Toronto recently -- and ended up tumbling into the crowd after Perry returned the favour. "I didn't do anything out of revenge," maintains the 59-year-old Perry. "But did you watch the video? Did you see what he did to me? "He came up behind me and deliberately hipchecked me ... in the middle of a solo. It was all I could do to stay on my feet without falling into the monitors. So I walked by him on the way back and my guitar tapped him in the back. He had a couple of seconds to decide if he wanted to hold his balance or jump into the audience and get caught, which is what he did. "He was caught by about 30 or 40 beautiful girls. That's what the guy lives for," Perry laughed. "And since then, I haven't felt any unexpected hipchecks. So it's been a lot better." It's apparently not the only improvement. Despite health issues, communication problems and an uncertain future -- Tyler reportedly signed on to judge American Idol without telling his bandmates -- Perry claims the 40-year-old Boston blues-rockers are at the top of their game on their latest tour, which wraps up in Western Canada this month. "The band has been playing great," he insists. "We've just gotten stronger through all the ups and downs. Every show for the last couple of weeks has been a couple of percent better. I can just feel it building up. We're gonna f---ing explode at these last shows." Before it all blows up -- onstage or in his face -- here's some of what the talkative guitarist had to say about living on the edge, drawing the line, and the future with (or without) Tyler. Could these be the last Aerosmith shows ever? Frankly and truthfully, I don't know what's going to happen after our last gig in Vancouver. But about 15 years ago, I had an epiphany -- I can't remember why -- and realized we're mortal. And I have to play every night like it's the last show. So that's how I've been playing it. On top of that, you know, what with the accidents we've had and some of the other stuff, we're playing the shows like they are the last. Do you and Steven even talk anymore? Sure. We talk all the time. I go in his dressing room when I have something to tell him. We talk about the set list. We have our arguments about what he thinks works and what I think works. But stuff like, 'Hey, I'm going to be on American Idol' never comes up? Well, he did tell me. But not until about two weeks ago, when it had already been rumours and gossip for a month. How can you have a decent relationship when he plays his cards so close to his vest? Well, that's really naming it. I really don't know what goes on in there. I'd like to. I'm the kind of person who pretty much tells the truth, and when I say what I say, you're gonna get the same answer tomorrow ... But I know who he is, I know his personality. I know what to expect. And the days of 'I wish Steven would ...' are gone. Is Aerosmith still worth all the hassle? So far, it's been worth it. But I have to say we're readjusting how much time we want to give to the fans and how much time we want to give to other things in life. There are other things in life. And frankly, I plan to take advantage of those over the next few years. How many more years do I have left when I'm going to feel like skiing and riding my snowmobile? But I don't really see us stopping. So American Idol isn't going to kill the band? No. When this tour is over, even if he wasn't doing the show, we would be taking off up until Christmas. We just need some time off ... And he's chosen to take the next four months and do this TV show. More power to him if that's what he wants to do. I've gone off and had my own band and put out my own records. I plan to do more of that. And hopefully we'll find the time to make an Aerosmith record. I'm not sure when that's going to happen. But I'm an optimist (and) we're planning positively. There's got to be another Aerosmith record. What about getting a temporary replacement for Steven? Is that off the table? Nothing has changed. I don't know what his schedule is. I don't know what he is planning on doing. But if January rolls around and he's involved in some project, we'll find another singer. Why not? Well, didn't he threaten legal action last time? Well, he can threaten to sue anybody. But it's four votes against one. And we have a pretty strong case if he wants to go that way. Bottom line is, how can he stop the four of us from wanting to go out and play?

Guns N' Roses stormed off stage at a concert in Dublin, Ireland on Wednesday after angry fans pelted the band with bottles for turning up more than an hour late. The rockers were greeted with a chorus of boos as they started their concert behind schedule, and were forced to stop the set after just 20 minutes when revellers began hurling missiles at them. A fuming Axl Rose warned the audience he would scrap the show if the onslaught continued, saying, "Here's the deal: One more bottle and we go home. "It's up to you. We would like to stay. We want to stay. We want to have some fun. "If you don't want to have fun, all you've got to do is let us know. We've got no problem - we'll go on our way." The group then left the stage, only to return after an hour to finish the show.

Guns N' Roses' performance at Britain's Reading Festival on Friday night ended in chaos after the band took to the stage an hour late and organizers were forced to cut the sound to stop them playing. The tardy rockers didn't begin their set until more than an hour after their scheduled start time, infuriating festival bosses who were given strict instructions from police and local officials to ensure the band didn't break its 11:30 p.m. curfew. The band played the majority of their set but they were forced off during their rendition of Paradise City when they began to play and then realized all their instruments had been switched off. Frontman Axl Rose attempted to carry on by singing through a megaphone, but eventually gave up and walked off stage with his bandmates. Festival boss Melvin Benn spoke out earlier this week to assure fans Guns N' Roses would take to the stage on time, insisting he was under a lot of pressure to make sure the band stuck to the rules. The Mr. Brownstone hitmakers will play again at the Leeds leg of the double-festival on Sunday night.
