The Blackest of the Black tour has completed for this year, the third in a row, after only a couple weeks on the west coast. In a recent interview with KNAC.COM, Glenn was quoted as saying "I probably won't do much, if any, touring after this. I know I've said that before, but I've really cut it back the last couple years and I can see a time where I just don't do it at all. I really just don't like to tour. I love performing, but I've been doing this for so long that all of the traveling and everything else that goes into doing a tour is not something I enjoy."

Luckily, with what could be the last tour, they included a stop at the Marquee in Tempe (who, yet once again, couldn't seem to find my passes).

Hitting the stage first with full force was Sweden's the Haunted. Having come off very successful runs with Ozzfest 2005 and early 2006 tours of Japan and Australia, the band has shown no signs of slowing down. The assault began with "The Flood" and "The Medication", both off the newly released disc The Dead Eye. The crowd absolutely thrived on every minute of it. Judging by the crowd's reaction, they simply saved up their energy during the opening bands, then unleashed it in unison with the music of the Haunted.

The shows in Tempe and Tucson were strong enough to have lead singer Peter Dolving state on his myspace.com blog "Arizona folks love the metal and there ain't no mistaking it!". Truly Arizona has been waiting for show.

The rest of the Haunted's set included "99", "In Vein", "The Reflection", "The Fallout", "The Prosecution" and "Dark Intentions/Bury Your Dead". Looks like the band has had to postpone 2007's headlining tour as they were just added to the European Killswitch Engage tour.

Before the sweat could dry, Lacuna Coil has demanded the crowd's attention. The crowd was clearly very excited and was cheering for Lacuna long before they hit the stage. The tension was mounting during the band's intro. Lacuna Coil keeps their mix interesting with shades of goth, chugging riffs and the dual singing of Cristina Scabbia and Andi Ferro. Guitarists Marco 'Maus' Biazzi and Cristiano Migliore kept the songs moving along throughout the set, just in front of the heavy rhythm backbone of bassist Marco Zelati and drummer Cristiano Mazzati.

Having seen Lacuna Coil a few times this year, one thing that comes across my mind was how choreographed everyone can be, like KISS. Its not a bad thing necessarily, but it could stand to be switched around every once in awhile. Regardless, the crowd didn't seem to mind much.

Hitting the stage to the full roar of the venue, Danzig begins their show. Dressed in his usual black pants and black mesh shirt, the demon has shown his presence. Stomping around the stage with apparent ownership, Glenn belted out his usual staples, going back to Misfits and Samhain. Glenn's old bandmate from Samhain - bassist Steve Zing - provided the extra thunder in the songs along with drummer Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative). Guitarist Kenny Hickey provided the riffs that united the songs.

Overall, Danzig provided a very powerful performance for the hungry audience. The venue was packed right around the time the Haunted took the stage, and grew in size throughout the night.

Songs included (in no particular order):
Skincarver
Black Mass
Circle of Snakes
I Lucifer
Samhain
All Murder All Guts All Fun
To Walk the Night
How the Gods Kill
Left Hand Black
Twist of Cain
Mother
