"Reunited and it feels so good"
The Maniacs of Rock are back... So be thankful!

That's right, they’re back, and you wouldn't have known they were gone at all. Philly's answer to Motley Crue back in the ‘80s... Roughhouse -- originally known as Teeze -- are back. These former CBS recording artists are back.

They reformed late last year for a benefit for a friend "Tommy Carter" who had passed away, from another local Philly band, Dead End Kids. After the huge and positive response they got, they said screw it, let's stay together.

After 10 years of not playing together, this band picked up where they left off. Fast forward 7 months later, their Philly homecoming is finally here, and they got right into it... Starting off the set with "Hellraiser" from their 1st independent release, then into "Love or Lust," from their CBS release. The set was a mix from both albums and a few covers thrown in for good measure.

Next up was "Lookin’ for Action" -- during this classic you have to see and experience bassist Dave Weakley doing his robot moves, and "Can't Find Love"… why wasn't this song ever released as a single back in the day?!

Jumpin’ back and forth from their 2 releases… "When the Moon is Full," "Racin’" and "Somewhere Someway." As lead singer Luis Rivera belts out these songs, he hasn't lost a step – hell, the guy even looks like he hasn't aged in the last 10 years. As a matter of fact, none of the band does. When you see this band, they make you feel like you’re in a time capsule. All night I felt like I was back at the Legendary "Empire Rock Room" for an all ages night. But I kept reminding myself, your in your 30's now... but hell for just over an hour... I was a teenager again.

Back to the show, "Don't Go Away" and “Fantasy" -- a couple more songs from their CBS release. This band was always known for their live shows and one big reason for that is guitarist Gregg Malack. This guy is all over the stage, running back and forth, jumping, doing kicks, splits, playing with his teeth, at one point he his handed a bouquet of flowers from a female fan, and in seconds, they are destroyed as he uses them as a new guitar pic. He is a one-man show alone. Actually the whole band is. You have to be very attentive when witnessing a Roughhouse show, because it is nonstop action.

Next up the band started going into the song "Teeze Me Pleeze Me," but about a minute into the song, one of the road crew, comes running through the crowd hollering to stop the show and call 911, as a female fan in the back of the floor had passed out. So the show was halted and police and paramedics came to the scene to help the female fan. At this point, I thought the show was over, it was 1:30 am, figuring they played about 10 songs they might call it a night. What was I thinking... The show restarted after they took the female fan to the hospital, the show and the flashback in time was restarted.

Now what better way to do that but turning the microphone over to Dave Weakley for his Blues classic "Ugly Bitch." This song always gets the crowd going, with the chorus sung by Dave: "Your an ugly bitch baby and I don't wanna...” Crowd response... F@#K YOU !!!

Luis rejoins the band onstage for "Justify," the cover of AC/DC's "Have a Drink on Me" and into another classic that was the only song to make it on both of their albums, "Midnite Madness."

Time was now against the band and the crowd, as the sound guy was hollering for just one more song, Luis was pleading with him for more, he wanted to squeeze 5 more... that goes to show you, on a weekday night, almost 2 am, they didn't care, and neither did the fans, because no one wanted that time capsule to stop... and for now it didn't, with their single and video from their CBS release "Tonight" and another cover of the classic rock song "It Ain't Me" and then finally -- Kiss has "Rock ‘N Roll All Nite" – well, Roughhouse has "Party Hardy" and that's what we all did all night, and no better why to close off the set.

As I said before, and I'll say this again, can someone please explain to me, why this wasn't one of the biggest bands of the ‘80s? They had the hair, the look, the songs, the stage show, the major label, the fans... can someone just explain why... and after you can explain it to me, I'm sure the band would like to know also.
